Services for lawyers + conveyancers

At Nest Legal, we don’t just serve our own clients – we also support fellow solicitors and conveyancers through a range of paid and free services. This is part of our mission to make the law easier for everyone: our team, our clients and our broader community.

Below are some of the ways the Nest team help our colleagues in the legal profession:

  • Talya regularly speaks on legal practice innovation, artificial intelligence and risk management at industry events.

With a focus on practicality, she curates CPD offerings that respect your time and needs, including workshops on emerging topics—like how to safely and effectively use tech and AI in property law.

Talya has been a guest on podcasts including File Notes Live and Behind the Grind

Talya also contributes thought leadership pieces, such as her opinion piece in Lawyers Weekly on the Innovation Divide, her Research Fellowship project at the Centre for Legal Innovation, contributions to Mamamia, Nicole Haddow’s book Couple Goals and Dr Felicity Bell’s article in the Legal Design Journal “You Don’t Often Create Solutions in the Law”

Over the years we’ve created presentations for the Law Institute of Victoria, Legal Practitioners Liability Committee, the ALPMA Summit, ALTACON, Leo Cussen and Smokeball Spark

Upcoming public speaking engagements are shared on our Insta page.

Email talya@nestlegal.com.au for future engagements. Training can be created on request, including on:

    • Practical use of AI and tech in small firms

    • Fixed-fee pricing (so clear you can put it on your front door)

    • AI strategy for small firms

    • How to run a 90% female remote-first law firm in three high-risk areas of law still dominated by paper

    • The lawyer of the future and how to prepare

  • We know how busy practice can get. That’s why we’ve developed practical tools to help you streamline:

    • Coded Precedent Packs: Smokeball users can purchase our 90+ Victorian conveyancing precedents pack, fully coded. More info here.  The precedents are also available for Triconvey users - contact your Triconvey person.

    • Non-Coded Precedent Packs: If you don’t use Smokeball/Triconvey or just want to purchase a licence to use the Word versions of our sale and purchase precedents (and you will keep them updated), we sell them for $1100 (inc GST) for both sale and purchase, or $550 for sale and $750 for purchase. Email alanna@nestlegal.com.au to get set up.

    • Retainer Template: Compliant with local legislation, ready to customise. AIC Vic members have access to the best practice retainer letter that we drafted for their members.

    • Locums: Keep your practice running smoothly when you’re away or need extra support with Nest Locums. We provide short-term coverage for lawyers and conveyancers, ensuring seamless client service (subject to availability).

    • Lodging/stamping agents: With Bob Quayle and Amanda Black’s retirement, Beth from the Quayles Black team is now a Nestie and we’ve committed to continue offering QB clients the same services at the same rates. Email shelley@nestlegal.com.au for more details.

  • Seven years ago, we founded the Newlaw Chambers Facebook group to share insights. With over 2000 members, it’s a supportive community for lawyers seeking to collaborate with peers to do law differently. Join us here: Newlaw Chambers

  • We regularly write law reform submissions on areas of the law that need to change. Some of our previous submissions include:

    • Rewriting section 137B of the Building Act 1993 to make owner-builder obligations clearer for Victorian vendors
